My students this year are, in most cases, struggling readers. The enrichment piece of my course includes as much outside reading as possible, as well as, in class reading of all types: fiction, nonfiction, drama, etc. Motivation for struggling 7th graders is VITAL! By having new technology available for students, I am able to capture the attention of some of my less motivated kids! E readers can aid in this goal. If I can make reading "fun" for them, that is half the battle. Their futures will be made much easier in the academic world. I personally feel that the love of reading is so important to the lives of all people, but teenagers can grow personally and academically from such experiences!
