My student come from a very low economic background. My parents are not capable of buying the beginning of the year supplies much less maintaining supplies. I have struggled throughout this year trying to keep supplies on hand so when we have an activity everyone has what they need. This has been a daily battle every year. I have asked parents and even tried to reward students with incentives when materials are brought in however, I am still stuck buying everything on my own. My students have a lot of potential to learn from various activities if they are prepared.
