I teach 3rd grade at a public charter school in Arizona. My classroom is full of energetic and enthusiastic young learners. I have found that the best way to channel the energy in my classroom is by establishing a student centered community. I love using small groups and learning centers to enrich my instruction. This means we are often all spread out around the classroom. Even though the kids don't usually mind laying on the floor, I would much rather have a rug under them to cushion their collaboration.
