My students come to me from around the world, bringing a variety of languages, cultures, and experiences into our eighth grade science classroom. They are passionate about laboratory experiments and come alive when allowed to explore and discover on their own. My students conquer such challenges as language barriers, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and poverty with tremendous grace and a hunger for knowledge. This year, every student will compete in the school science fair, having designed, conducted, and analyzed their experiment over a four month period. Few have the adequate space and resources at home and must rely on the school and their teachers to complete projects. Though they are a highly diverse group, my students have been drawn to each other through a love of music! Music has the ability to transcend the lines that divide us. We will explore music's effect on emotions, plant growth, and academic success. There is much to discover!
