My kindergarteners are inquisitive minds just exploring this new world called school. They are eager to learn. They also come from a community that is steeped in generational poverty. They face challenges in day to day life that many Americans would never imagine. Most families struggle with basic needs; the majority receive free breakfasts and lunches. While these students are learning to read in English, most do not have an English-speaking parent who is able to help them with homework let alone read them a book.

About my class
