My students are the best! I know that all teachers say that, but I truly believe that mine are! I have been teaching Special Education for 6 years. I work in the South Bronx where there are limited resources available for the families in this area. However, everyday I wake up and think how lucky I am to be working a job that I love so much! My students may not be able to express themselves verbally, but they can express themselves in other ways. One of those ways is a picture communication system. I create my lessons with a special program called BoardMaker where there are thousands of pictures that represent different topics. We can also add pictures that relate to the specific child. These pictures could be a favorite snack or someone in their family. I have watched my students' communication skills increase because of these pictures. Please consider donating to my class and helping them communicate!
