Most of the kids at my school are on free or reduced lunch, some have only a couple shirts, and some get lost in the system. As a teacher, you need to relate to these kids in some way. Since I am a younger teacher, I bring up my high school glory days but times have defiantly changed. After the first week, I could tell which students came from a broken homes, who lives in a group home, and who supports themselves. All kids need a sense of pride and that is where I think agriculture comes into the picture. They can grow roses, raise animals, or build projects in the shop. When documented, they can show these pictures to parents that needed to work that night, potential foster parents, or just to their friends. The pictures will fill the students up with a sense of worth and then can sprout a better life. Every kid is the future and under my watch, I am going to fill the cracks so they can live a joyous life.
