My students have a variety of disabilities which include vision, gross and fine motor, academic, social, and speech problems. They struggle every day to do the simplest of tasks, but their effort is endless. They strive to be just like their regular peers in everything they do. Each student needs one-on-one assistance especially with communication. Communication boards and augmentative devices are used to help each student communicate their needs and to ask questions. We use differentiated instruction with each student catering to each individuals wants and needs. The excitement on each student's face is priceless when I pull out a big book to read. Not only can they see the pictures, but they try to point and verbally communicate with us because of their excitement. My students can "grow bigger with big books"!
