I am a first grade teacher in Northwest Indiana. I have 20 students in my class who are very eager to learn and want to please me!! My school is in an urban setting, with a very high free and reduce lunch status. Unfortunately, a lot of my students have to experience more than they should have to. Many come from single parent homes, they have a parent in jail or even prison, see domestic violence at home and come to school hungry. I enjoy teaching my students and taking them as far academically and socially as they can reach at the end of the school year.
