My students that will pilot this project are juniors on the Honors' track. They are the ones who will enroll in AP and ACP classes next year. They are in public education preparing themselves for college life. These students are constantly looking for ways to think "outside the box." They are self motivators with an incredible work ethic. When this idea of an "altered book" project came up they were so excited about expressing their views and literary analyses in a new creative way. As these kids live in rural Indiana, they find alternative educational methods stimulating and challenging. These students will lead the way for other classes to get to experience this project in future years. They will provide exceptional examples as well as setting a lofty "bar.".
