My classroom library is in need of new non-fiction books. I teach at a Title I school, where over 50 percent of the student population qualifies for the free or reduced lunch program. Many of my students do not have the resources to purchase books and because many of their parents are working, they also have limited opportunities to visit the public library. My classroom library is a convenient and easy place for my kids to develop their love of reading, but we are in need of new books that will appeal to my students. The number one priority of my school right now is on literacy, but we need to be able to support our students with books that will help foster an early interest in reading, and now that the Common Core Standards have arrived, especially non-fiction. I want to be able to provide my students with the books that will help them to meet their non-fiction literacy goals.
