Can students who cannot talk actually learn MATH? Of course they can!! All they need is a structured area with hands-on materials to learn math in their own unique way. The school is located in the district where 77% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch program. I am a first year teacher working with four students with various special needs including autism and Down Syndrome. It is a self-contained classroom for 1st through 3rd graders, and my students are mostly non-verbal or have very limited language development.
