A variety of digital and informational activities take place in the school's library media center at Dater Elementary. We offer the Montessori program, so the students are in multiage classrooms, except K and our 6th grade. Students come to the library media center weekly for forty-five minute sessions where they participate in reading experiences that include read alouds, book reviews, author visits and checking out personal book choices. During the library choice time older students assist younger students with book selections or older students can be found in the reading area sharing books with younger students or classmates. Library time is also used to supplement class work with research using both digital and print resources. Biweekly, students engage in digital literacy assignments from online assignments from subscribed educational learning sites, to coding experiences, to STEM activities.
