The students I teach are inner city kids, however they live in a rural school district. It's like they live close to the city, but in a mostly rural/agricultural county. This puts them a huge disadvantage in Their perception of reality. Our school district is one of South Carolina's largest rural school districts where the poverty level is around 70% and 92% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. They also attend the alternative education program for students who are a year behind academically or students with behavior problems.
