Our school is butting the boundary of poverty. Some of the students that attend our school come from beautiful homes complete with swimming pools; some of my students come from dilapidated apartments where safety is a daily battle. Some of my students work to pay for insurance and fun money; some work to help pay the bills. Currently, we are not what people consider inner-city,but we will be soon. Our students, whether from the mansion or the apartment, come with issues that seem too heavy for someone in the best time of his/her life. Sadly, some give up and though they do not enter willing into trouble the lack of direction leads them there. Some of my students fight daily to be successful. They fight fear of failure, unrealistic expectations, and the daily problems of life in an effort to make something better of themselves. I am proud of our school, and I am proud to be a teacher.
