The students in my classes are ecstatic to have art class for the first time in 7 years. I teach art to Kindergarten through 8th grade at a diverse neighborhood school. Students of every grade level, learning style, and varied personal background can benefit from a visual aid when it comes to understanding visual art. The student body is 80% low income and 33% have limited English proficiency. Visual aides are extremely important when teaching to students with language barriers. Additionally, because the students live in a 21st century world, they could benefit greatly from instruction on how to appropriately use the internet to conduct research through the LCD projector. Art history is crucial to teaching in depth lessons and creating artwork instead of crafts. The projector will allow us to view famous and amateur artworks as well as research new ideas and inspirational topics or methods for creating art.
