My kindergarten students attend a public elementary school in Southern California. They are enrolled in a dual-immersion program in which 90% of the day they are learning to read, write, listen and speak Mandarin. I teach 25 students in my Mandarin Dual Language Immersion Program classroom. 50% of my students are from non-native Chinese families. In my classroom, English speakers are immersed in the Mandarin language while learning their California Common Core State Standard based curriculum.
