I teach middle and high school students at the Jean Massieu School of the Deaf. All of my students are Deaf. My school is an ASL/English school with a focus on giving students 100% access to language and therefore, engagement in the learning process. Our goal is for them to succeed in both the hearing and Deaf community. My students are truly amazing individuals. They have not had it easy, but they are for the most part, positive and happy kids. They are mostly just like any other middle/high school student; they just can't hear. They use their eyes to access the world. They are learning how to stand up for themselves and fight for their rights. They love drama and story-telling! They are natural actors because they use their faces and bodies to communicate everyday. They teach me more than I teach them!
