My class is made up of 27 brand new kindergartners! We are at a public elementary school in California. The students are incredibly curious and excited about being in school, and are eager learn! The classroom is small and lacking many basic kindergarten materials. When I first entered the classroom just days before the first day of school, I was met with a sparsely furnished room, with only a set of textbooks with which to teach. Materials have been purchased with my own money when I am able, but my students are still lacking many vital kindergarten supplies. They are extremely interested in math and sciences, and I know the importance of STEM in the classroom, especially at a young age. The children are very active, and would benefit from hands-on activities rather than just our workbook pages.
