My students are all 9th graders, all males, and primarily African-American. Based on the relationship between 9th grade success and dropout rates, I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say they are standing at possibly the most critical juncture in their lives. "The Pact" will help us recognize that regardless of the challenges they face on a daily basis (and there are plenty) my students can be successful.
