I would like to use an iPad Pro, with the Apple Pencil in my classroom because it has the latest digital drawing and painting technology. The Apple Pencil allows students to draw easily with pin point accuracy due to its pressure sensitivity feature. With the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil I can introduce an entirely new media of digital art to my students. There is an app, called Procreate, which was designed specifically in mind for the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. It allows students to simulate pencil and ink drawings and paintings; providing a wide array of brushes to enhance their artwork. With the iPad pro I can also educate my students about comic book coloring just as some professional colorists use Procreate on the iPad Pro using the Apple Pencil. Providing even one tablet in my activity center will allow students to access information from QR codes, using a QR reader, and research different artists. I am building a QR code research center where students can learn about contemporary artists. At the station there will be laminated papers with a QR code on them. All of the QR codes link to a website biography, web interviews, and examples of the artist’s work. With more technology I can have more QR codes that link to many more contemporary artists. Also loaded on the iPad will be a presentation-creator app for students to show what they have learned about the artist and make a short PowerPoint-like presentation. I feel that students will enjoy learning about new artists and sharing their knowledge with others. Having this technology will help to enhance my classroom by providing fourth and fifth grade students the opportunities to explore new content and connect with art and artists from around the world.
