I grew up with LEGO's in my house and developed a great love for them at an early age. There have been so many times when we are using manipulatives in the classroom where I can't help but think about how I would use this with LEGOs! My students love LEGOs too and being able to use LEGOs with teaching Multiplication and Division concepts will motivate them to develop the cornerstone of multiplicative thinking and the reverse - Division. For Multiplication, we will explore arrays of different sizes and shapes and relate this to multiplication equations, square numbers, and area. For Division, we will be able to explore different sizes of "Wholes" and show the parts that make up a "Whole." We will relate this to division equations.
