Imagine being five years old and not knowing how to read or write your name because your family couldn't send you to preschool. Imagine your home life being difficult because your mom is a single mom, working two or more jobs in order to put food on the table and pay the bills, not having the time to read to you because she is at work. Now imagine that first child making amazing strides once he was exposed to the wonders of the classroom and an invested teacher. Imagine the second child cramming her backpack full of books from the classroom because she loved learning how to read. These are the type of children that walk through my classroom door each day. Children that face difficulties at home but are excited to come to their classroom each morning for a new day full of learning opportunities.
