As a Title 1 school, nearly 90% of our students come from families living in poverty, but that doesn't stop them from being curious, enthusiastic learners. No matter how difficult their home lives may be, so many enter our doors each morning bursting with questions and ready to grow. Our goal is to give them the tools they need to succeed in high school, college and beyond, and we know that reading widely is a keystone to that success. We also know that if we don't get books in their hands at school, it may never happen. However, our current collection is small and comprised mainly of donations of library's discards; many books are outdated or in poor condition. Now, as we prepare to move into a newly-renovated building and expand our student body, our students more than ever need a plethora of high-quality reading materials that not only support curriculum standards but also get them excited about reading.
