My school is an urban school located in a very low economic neighborhood in Louisiana. It's a Title I school, with 65% of the students being economically disadvantage, that enrolls about 1,400 students with a total minority enrollment of 86%. Many of my students are the first in their families to attempt to go to college. They are highly self-motivated but face day to day barriers the average student shouldn't have to go through. With this in mind, I am hoping to challenge my students, to push them to reach their potential, so that when they reach college, they will have the skills to succeed.
