Our school is located in rural North Carolina, and serves approximately 430 students in grades 6-8. In the 7th grade we have about 150 students split between two teams of three teachers each. On our first seventh team you will find one math teacher, one language arts teacher, and THE seventh grade science teacher. On the second seventh grade team you will find one math teacher, one language arts teacher, and myself, THE seventh grade social studies teacher. In middle school terms, this is known as cross teaming. Students attend math and language arts every day, while science and social studies are taught every other day. In our school system funds for certain subjects are hard to come by. Math and language arts are regularly allotted extra money for classroom materials because they are tested subjects. Science and social studies receive very little extra money because they are not tested.
