My class houses a structured English immersion program, meaning that about half of my students come to me in the fall knowing little to no English. Because of this, we focus on basic reading and writing skills even more than the average Kindergarten class. By the end of the school year our goal is to catch all our English Learners up to grade level proficiency in their English skills!
