My school is located in California about 5 minutes from the Mexican border. It has a multicultural student population with the majority Mexican. The students come from diverse economic backgrounds, ranging from middle class to low socioeconomic households. Most of the students at my school come from two-parent working homes. The majority of the students attend a 6 to 6 program where they can do their homework and have supervision. The students come into kindergarten eager to learn to read and write. Some have previous preschool experience but not many.
