My school is a Title One school where over 50% of students receive free or reduced lunch. We serve kindergarten through fifth grade. Because of the current budget our classes are overcrowded, with around 30 students per class. Our school strives to provide equity and excellence in ALL students. My students are hard working, curious, and passionate. We have created a sense of urgency for learning in my classroom. School, for my students, is a safe, desirable place. Many of the students are living in poverty, in unpleasant neighborhoods. Because of the culture of surrounding neighborhoods my students are not provided with positive learning experiences outside of school. They deserve more opportunity than anyone I know!
