I teach at The N. Center, an English language learning, sheltered classroom in North Carolina for new English language learners from 6th to 12th grade. There are up to 30 students in the program. My students come from a variety of countries that include Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Thailand, Brazil, Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador, to name a few. They bring with them a diversity of cultures, languages and literacy levels. Our common goals are: to increase English language proficiency level, to adapt to the United States culture, and to be up to date with technology so they can be successful in their home schools. They are committed to learning and passionate about adapting to their new home. They work hard as they learn English as well as all other 21st Century skill skills.
