This Illinois small town sets the stage for my second grade learners. Most of the children who attend this public school are from families with a low socioeconomic status and the classroom becomes a home away from home. In addition, the school is part of an attendance center, so students enter a brand new school every two years. I value the importance of creating a space that is warm and welcoming.
