I know that my request is not a "typical" donation request, but in order to grow our students in today's ever-growing rigorous classes, they have to have energy. Students spend most of their day at school, and the hours in between breakfast and lunch are too long to hold students accountable of reaching their potential as their stomachs are growling. "Kids at risk of hunger may be less equipped to reach their full potential as they engage with the world around them. Studies show that children from homes that lack consistent access to food are more likely to experience developmental impairments in areas like language, motor skills, and behavior." - Feeding America Our community and students' families are very supportive, but on the list of donated supplies, snacks fall to the bottom, leaving teachers responsible to provide snacks for their classes.
