My school is an elementary charter school that is home to scholars from 4 different low-income cities in Rhode Island. They are taught music 3 times a week and are instilled with "PRIDE" values demonstrating perseverance, respect, integrity, discipline, and enthusiasm, in their everyday work and especially in the music classroom. Next year, our very talented and deserving third graders will each be given the opportunity to learn to play the violin. They will be taught in their classrooms and are beyond excited to start learning and playing their very own stringed instrument. As second graders, they have ALL already received their black belt in the Karate Recorder program. Scholar's have excelled in learning how to read notes on the staff and work out complex rhythms and have really grown into fantastic singers calling themselves "Professional Musicians."
