A subscription to Weekly Reader would allow my students to have access to a fun, exciting and stimulating view of our world all around us. This would expand their knowledge of a variety of people, places and things outside their ordinary way of life. Having a subscription of Weekly Reader would be a wonderful addition to our classroom curriculum. It would be something that all of the students could share with their families as well as keep for additional reading all year to use throughout their Daily 5 rounds. Each issue covers current events and is focused on Social Studies and Science topics. Weekly Reader correlates each issue to important key standards in Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Parents will be able to use this resource to read with children and ensure that all families have examples of appropriate second grade materials. Your greatly appreciated contribution will ensure that my students will have a greater exposure to their world with amazing photographs, grade appropriate current events, and leveled reading through Weekly Reader. They will also have online access to the Weekly Reader activities, as well as read alouds for each magazine. My students will be so excited to receive this weekly "mail" that we can enjoy in the classroom and that they can take home to share. My students and I greatly appreciate your consideration with assisting the funding of our project and hope you will be able to help us.
