My students range in disabilities but my class is labeled moderate to severe. My students don't always have the greatest choices or ability when it comes to what they want to be when they grow up. But I can widen their choices by teaching them essential life skills thru cooking. By teaching them cooking safety, how to read recipes, what to buy, how to shop as well as cooking itself, it creates a world of wonders. To watch my kids say I made it all by myself makes me speechless. They feel more confident and independent and it gives them greater opportunities in their future. It allows them to be more independent and responsible which affects other aspects of their life, like having a job or even living on their own. Help me enrich my students lives!
