I teach 3rd grade students in a Tennessee elementary school. Many of the students that I will teach next school year may not enjoy reading on their own. Some students may enjoy reading but lack the comprehension skills they need. I am hoping to use chapter books in a structured setting to model effective reading strategies that can benefit them in several ways. This may also encourage the students to read at home as well.
