I teach on a campus that ranges from 3rd to 5th grade. The 44 students that I have in my class are eager and excited about technology and the innovation it can bring into the classroom. I have a very diverse group of learners who are constantly seeking out new and exciting ways to expand their learning. Our school is located in a very rural part of Houston, and my students are in need of a new and captivating way to broaden their reading. Due to the large range of reading levels in my classroom, not all of my students are ready for chapter books in third grade. Some are still in need of basic reading skills and the opportunities that they have for practicing these with personal, hand-held technology equipment is very limited. Not only do I want my students to become lifelong readers, I want them to be able to find new and exciting ways to experience reading.
