Ours is a New York City public school located in one of the most diverse areas in the country. We serve an international school community whose students speak many languages and come from all over the globe. Because we represent so many cultures, we appreciate what each culture brings to our community and music is such an important part of that. I teach the performing arts, music, dance and drama. We have music lessons in our after school program so that our students are immersed in the arts. These days that is an increasing challenge with budgets shrinking. Nevertheless, we know we can make it work continue to have our children learn to read music and play. We also want to continue to bring plays and dance, essential components of the performing arts, to our students. We hope music and dance will be supported through our proposals, and we thank you for any and all support.
