I teach students with learning disabilities in a public school. Students disabilities range from Cognitively delayed, autism, traumatic brain (TBI), emotionally disturbed, ADD/ADHD, speech and language and behavioral. Since we are at a public school we are required to follow the curriculum, however the curriculum does not give us other tools needed to help further our students more. Writing tools, sensory, fine motor supports etc. We often have to take several breaks throughout the day to help with frustration levels/behaviors. Our students do often rise to all occasions and really work hard but need other activities/items to help them reach their true potential that the curriculum does not give them. Our students desire the best and unfortunately the curriculum does not give them all the tools needed.
