My students attend an elementary School in Florida. We live in a title one school, which means that a large number of students come from low income homes. At least 30% of students at our school are on free or reduced lunch. Do you remember the time your parent or another special adult spent time reading bedtime stories to you? Not all of my students have that experience. Many of our students come from homes where there is no age appropriate literature and the first time they see books that are for kids is when they start school. My challenge is to find literature that they love and want to read. I want to ignite their love for reading with fun, interesting books. I need books that appeal to all children but I need your help to do that as I simply can't afford to buy all of the books that I would love for my students to have access to.
