I teach at a beautiful school with beautiful children, but what we have going against us is the label of having the highest rate of poverty of all the schools in our community. That doesn't interfere with my 2nd graders' love of learning. One of their favorite activities is listening to a fluent reader read to them. I adore reading to them all I can and because of their excitement I enjoy it even more. However, we are in dire need of audio books at their level. In our classroom, students have an opportunity to participate in a listening station. Sadly, some have lost interest because we do not have a great selection of books they love.

About my class
