I have 18 wonderfully curious and energetic second graders. They love any opportunity for hands-on learning. They are excited to learn and love to share all they know with anyone who asks. Our school is a title one charter school where 98% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. We have no formal science resources, but when asked more than half of my class would say that science is their favorite subject. Our school is designed to validate and affirm students through an instructional program that supports development of cultural and linguistic knowledge and awareness of themselves, their community, the nation, and the world as an entre to a standards-based, academically rigorous, and intellectually stimulating curriculum.
