My students have inquiring minds and ask many questions. In order to learn more about history, it is important that students have the ability to research those many questions. In the ever-changing world, students automatically go to the internet to find out more information about various subjects. However, I want my students to also know how to use actual books to gain knowledge. One challenge I have is providing enough books for my students to learn about the events and time periods that we study. I have selected a variety of books to use in my classroom for students to read to gain information. Students will have access to the the period-specific books as we go through each unit. They will be able to use them during independent reading time or any extra class time to read for fun or to find answers to their questions. Some of the books are fictional, which will give students the opportunity to see different perspectives also. Students will benefit from the addition of these books to my classroom library.
