I teach in a rural K-8 elementary school in Northern Vermont. Our school sits on top of a hill, surrounded by cornfields and woods. Very often we see turkeys and deer right outside our classroom window. We are a community of many low income families, with many qualifying for free and reduced lunches. Our school serves as more than the educational facility for the children of Montgomery. It is a community center in the truest sense of the word. We provide space for ballet classes, driver's ed., preschool play groups, and adult basketball, just to name a few.
