I have wanted to have flexible seating in my classroom for years but have been unable to make it happen. If students are given choices of where they can sit and how they can sit, as well as being able to change it up from day to day, I believe you can increase their focus and attention. So many of my students struggle to stay focused and fidget in their seats. I know I am guilty of lots of squirming at Professional Development courses. My classroom will not only be inviting due to the bright colors and unique seating, my students may be able to wobble on a stool, wiggle on a ball, stand up and sway back and forth, or relax on a pillow to keep them engaged in my lessons!
