My students attend a public high school in an urban city in California. Most of them come to high school significantly below grade level in math and our goal is to prepare each and every one of them for college. However math can be a huge gate-keeper for students who want to both graduate from high school and from college. My class is filled with eager and motivated high school students who have been underserved in their schools and deprived of a quality math education for many years. They are trying to catch up on many years of missed basic math skills while keeping up with their current geometry class.
