Our school is 100% free and reduced lunch. Community organizations provide students with school supplies each year to help our struggling families begin the year. My students are fighting to understand and embrace the value of learning and the importance of reading despite their circumstances. Each day my students arrive at school eager to learn and willing to go the extra mile to do their best. Though they lack some of the tools necessary to succeed, they come to school each day in search of an alternative. We don't believe in being victims of circumstance and my students choose not to dwell on what they lack, but instead focus on their strengths and what they can become.
