My name is Michelle Wood and I have the pleasure to teach the severe special education elementary class for the Russell County School System in Phenix City, AL. Our class is located at Ladonia Elementary and we have kids of various disabilities from kindergarten to 7th grade. Our school is a Title 1 school (high poverty) in a rural county. Many of my students do not have the opportunity to experience things that most children get to experience. They also do not learn in typical ways, often needing a lot of hands on activities, visual and sensory stimulation.
