My children are just that: my kids. I feel like each one of them is my own and each of them is just as special. I work in an inner city elementary school that serves a very diverse population. We are 58% African-American, 28% Hispanic, 6% White, 1% Asian and 6% multi-racial. Our students come from all walks of life, from well-to-do families as well as some who live in the homeless shelters around our school. We are a Spanish Language Immersion Magnet School, currently a Magnet School of Excellence and pride ourselves on being the best we can. That said, our school has over 50% free and reduced lunch with very limited resources. I find myself without the things I wish I could use to help my students bloom into confident musicians.
