My students are funny and friendly and caring, but they have also not all had the opportunity to be exposed to so much adventure that literature has to offer! I am a first year teacher and I want to inspire and challenge my students to become people who can change the world! I want to allow them to create and explore and make their world a better place, but I cannot do that without literature to support them. My students are very diverse and come from all different backgrounds. They have many, many different stories to tell and rich experiences to share. They are creative and imaginative, but also need to be pushed and challenged to reach beyond what is comfortable into the places that will turn them into leaders. Our school is a very diverse place as well, and hosts a range of students, some of whom struggle with poverty and some who do not.
